Profile

The partner Cantons of Fribourg, Geneva, Neuchâtel, Vaud, and Valais decided to submit a joint project with the EPFL for Switzerland Innovation Park Network West EPFL. This decentralized approach is based on the current structure of the EPFL, with its headquarters in Lausanne and the specialized sites in the other partner Cantons. The activities carried out by Switzerland Innovation Park Network West EPFL at the decentralized sites correspond to the research themes of the specialized EFPL sites in the respective Cantons. Beyond its main campus in Lausanne, and especially with the existing EPFL Innovation Park and Biopôle, specialized university sites are being developed in Neuchâtel (Microcity), Sion (Energypolis), Fribourg (Bluefactory), and Geneva (Campus Biotech).

Site

In order to develop a close collaboration between the EPFL and the universities and companies at the different sites, local governance structures are being created under the leadership of each Canton. Together with the Cantonal economic support, these structures provide adequate assistance in enabling the site to welcome entrepreneurs and innovative companies that want to settle near the centers of excellence of this hub. The decentralized Switzerland Innovation Park Network West EPFL focuses on the nine areas of competence of the individual sites. The sites can be expanded as required in accordance with the themes of the different sites.
